Obituary for C Keith Smith

C. Keith Smith

Born to eternal life on October 19th at the age of 88. Devoted husband for the past 66 years to Lois Polzer Smith. Loving father of the late Craig Michael Smith (Lisa Balistrieri), Brian Keith Smith (Anita) and Carrie Ann Zaferos (George M.). Cherished grandfather of Corey Smith (Ashley), Jordon Smith (Sarah), Logan Zwaska (Aaron), Keith Smith, Megan Wild (Jeff), Jessica Smith, Rev. Peter Zaferos (Melissa), Ann Zaferos, Laura Zaferos and Andrew Zaferos. Beloved great grandfather of Natalie, Olivia, Jackson , Macy, Thomas, Paisley and Julietta. He was also preceeded in death by two great grandchildren, Chase and Piper.

Keith was born in Kenosha , Wisconsin and graduated with a B.S. in Education from the State Teachers College – Milwaukee and he earned a Masters of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin . A longtime Mequon resident, he served the Whitefish Bay School District for 33 years as a school psychologist, assistant principal, principal, director of research and development, director of personnel, and assistant to the superintendent of schools. Although he wore many hats, throughout his career, he was always an advocate of students with special needs. Keith enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman, reading, collecting and travel. Keith served in the Army during World War II. He was a charter member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon where he served as an elder.

A graveside committal service was held on Thursday, October 23rd at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI with Pastor Bob Sheldon of Crossroads Presbyterian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon or The Stuttering Foundation.
