David, John's son
John was a great father who always supported and encouraged me. He helped to make my childhood secure and happy, a time of tremendous personal growth. I cherish the good times we had to together – fishing, hunting, bowling and playing pool or table tennis. He was an accomplished sportsman and a man of notable physical strength. He had a keen sense of humor and a sense of fun. He spoke honestly and directly. He was a master of his craft, patient, able to plan and execute complicated creations. The things he built lasted. He loved solitude and nature. So do I. I feel fortunate to have had him in my life for so long. I am grateful for all he did for me. I will remember him at his best.
