This Book of Memories memorial website allows family and friends a place to re-visit, share and enhance this tribute for future generations.
Evvie Smith was the first person I met after moving to Wisconsin and joining the Village Playhouse who made me feel welcome as part of a new family.
That was one of her special qualities. She was always there to approach new people to welcome them. But it was always much more than that. She made you feel special. She had so much love to give and so much energy that spilled over. You could not help but feel drawn in by her magnetism.
More than that, as you got to know Evvie, she was always encouraging you to step outside your comfort zone and try new things. I know there were many things I might not have attempted without Evvie's encouragement and enthusiasm. She got me to direct, produce shows, and be on the board including becoming president of VPW. She got me into teaching theater and into directing with her in Tosa Children's Theater. Evvie was so great with all the children and was always there to make each child feel special. We directed together for many years and I learned so much from her.
I guess that the best memory of Evvie, for me, was Evvie dancing. She was smiling, singing, and dancing and that's what I see her doing now...dancing forever with the angels.
Evvie may you now rest in peace. Thanks for the memories that you and your husband shared with me (George), wife Kebebush and my daughters Sabah and Nafula.
We all remember the joyful get together we had at your house and mine.
We all will miss you.
Evie I will miss you and your smile. It was fun growing up with you and the memories still linger. I am still a day older than you. We had so much fun with that. I hope you are at rest in the Lords arms.
Much Love
Darlene
I loved you from the first time I saw you and a little more each day until time separated us. I will see you again and we'll simply start over. Imagine the possibilities love!
You will be missed Evie. We shared early memories from our stay at the Sisters of our Lady of Charity in Green Bay, Wi. Time has passed quickly and now you are in your eternal home. Rest in Peace and may your sparkle burn on through all those who knew you.
