Thanks for being a great secondary father while growing up during those carefree iconic 1970s

Dearest Herm!  When your oldest son and my good friend Dave emailed me your tragic death on Fat Tuesday, February 17, I was not only very saddened and shocked, but I felt and knew that you were in a much better place, and that you were not suffering any more.  Furthermore, I was about 1500 miles away in New Orleans for Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street watching the floats come down Canal Street as I informed Dave.  Dave responded with Julie's and Kate's request for me to send him a selfie toasting you on Bourbon Street. Was more than happy to oblige with my hurricane drink by stating, "Here's to you Herm!" Ever since then been thinking and thinking nothing but you how you, Ann and my folks-Jim and Mary-raised your kids and my brothers when we all grew up together four decades ago back during those carefree, iconic days of the 1970s.  We had some awesome times together.  My favorite memories of you include those cool Pontiac Catalina Safaris wagon with that classic "Clamshell" tailgate, going to Messmer High School football games where we saw you coach, and you becoming Vice Prinicipal at Cedarburg High School from 1977-1981.  May God Bless Ann, Julie, Michael, Dave, Alex, Kate, Tom and Kari during this very difficult time.  I was very glad and happy that I had a chance to visit you and Ann last summer only six months ago, but just wished it wasn't the last.  Was hoping that God had given you more time, but unfortunately that's not the case.  How I wish I could attend your services, but due to distance and work conflict, can be there only in spirit.  Let's keep God's peace in our hearts until the day we meet again.  Your favorite Remitz-Jay Remitz
