True character

I didn't know Uncle Herm all that well (as I didn't become a Kovochich until 2009), but there are a few memories that stand out in my mind. At our wedding reception, Uncle Herm was the first person to greet us. He came up to us, and gave me a (hard!) slap on the back. My drink sloshed everywhere, but I could see the enthusiasm and excitement in his eyes. He congratulated us, and then proceeded to tell me how he had talked to my parents. They told him how smart I was, and he urged me to go back to school and pursue higher education. Later in the night, Uncle Herm was the first person to dance on the tables, and he started a trend that lasted the rest of the night. At John's wedding, Uncle Herm came up to me to let me know that I should help Mike get back into football shape. After the accident, I started emailing from time to time, mostly to share about the girls. I appreciated that he took the time to respond. He would always tell me that I "was raising the best of the best". I think what all these stories show is that Uncle Herm was a vibrant, strong man who saw the best in people and pushed them to better themselves because he only wanted the best for us. We will remember his conviction and strength, his genuine heart, and his dynamic spirit. Auntie Ann, Dave, Kate and Alex, Julie and Michael, Tom and Kari, and the whole Buechel family: we are so sorry for your loss. We are praying for peace for you during this difficult time, and we hope the many good memories of Uncle Herm will bring you comfort. We love you and our thoughts are with you. Love, Mike, Anne, Ahni and Aura
